The Mansion House
The Mansion/ Procurators House, Magor NGR ST 424 870
Park in village centre by the church.
The ruins of a stone, three-storey, late medieval house stand just outside the churchyard. The church and vicarage of Magor was held by Tintern Abbey from 1385. The abbey also reclaimed Lower Grange from the marsh just to the south of the village. The house was entered from the churchyard at first-floor, where there was a hall, parlour and kitchen with bedrooms above and a cellar beneath. An aumbry in the SE wing indicates a private chapel. Large medieval church is worth a visit and hunt for the bases of the two medieval churchyard crosses outside.
